TOUR DETAILS

Day 1: ….. ARRIVE LIMA

Upon arrival in Lima, you will be transported to your hotel. The rest of the day at leisure. Night in Lima.

Day 2: LIMA - CITY TOUR

Breakfast. You will be picked up to enjoy your half-day panoramic city Tour. You will see the Colonial center, the Main Square, the Palacio de Gobierno, the Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace and Lima town hall. Also, you will visit San Francisco, a convent with cloisters and catacombs of the Colonial era. The tour will continue through the traditional areas of residential and commercial Lima to end with spectacular panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean and beaches in the district of Miraflores. Return to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Optional bike tour, gastronomic tours available upon request.

Night in Lima.

Day 3: LIMA CUSCO CITY TOUR & RUINS NEARBY

Breakfast at the hotel. At the appropriate time you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Cusco, and upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will have a City Tour, visiting the Cathedral of Santo Domingo, known as Q’oricancha or Temple of the Sun. You will also visit the nearby archeological sites of Sacsayhuaman, Q’enco, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. Return to the hotel. Night in Cuzco.

Note: please keep in mind that CUSCO is located at 11200 ft. (3400 mts) so take your time to acclimatize and rest as much as your body needs it.

Day 4: SACRED VALLEY TOUR

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will take a tour to visit the beautiful town of Pisac, its traditional market, the popular show and its narrow streets. (Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday). You will continue the tour through the Sacred Valley of Urubamba, where you can enjoy a nice buffet lunch. Then you will visit Ollantaytambo, a still inhabited Inca City where a complex system of irrigation channels and foundations still remain from the Inca civilization and where much of the town was built. The archeological site of Ollantaytambo has large groups of terraces, fortresses, squares, channels and the Real Casa del Sol, a megalithic temple of great mysticism. Night in Cuzco or Sacred Valley.

Day 5: MACHU PICCHU GUIDED TOUR - CUSCO

Breakfast at the hotel. You will be transported to the train station to board the train that will begin our tour to the

 

Sacred City of Machu Picchu, declared by UNESCO as Cultural Heritage for Humanity and chosen as one of the modern Seven Wonders. The train will take you to Aguas Calientes, where you will ascend to the sacred City of the Incas, “Machu Picchu”, located 112 km/69m away from the city of Cuzco and 2,360 miles above sea level. Once there, you will have a guided tour where you will see palaces, temples, houses, stores, and buildings. Enjoy a great lunch at the unique Sanctuary Lodge. After the visit, you will descend to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo where you will have lunch.

At the appropriate time, we take the train back to Cuzco, and are you will be taken to your hotel. Night in Cuzco.

Day 6: CUSCO - LIMA - BOGOTA.

Breakfast at the hotel. At the appropriate time you will be transported to the airport for your flight to Bogota (most likely via Lima).

Upon arrival in Bogota, you will be transported to your selected hotel.

Day 7: BOGOTA - CITY TOUR – GOLD MUSEUM

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to visit the historic center of the city. We will walk through the Plaza de Bolivar and the streets that start from there, in which there are prominent buildings such as the National Capitol, the center of the country’s legislative life, the House of Communards, the House of Nariño, headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic and the church Museum of Santa Clara. Later we will visit the Gold Museum, where some 34,000 pieces of jewelry from various pre-Hispanic cultures are exhibited. We continue our walk to the Quinta de Bolívar House Museum, where the Liberator Simón Bolívar lived. The route continues from 2,600 meters above sea level in the city to 3,152 meters at which the Monserrate sanctuary is located. We can go up there by cable car or funicular, from where you can see a beautiful panoramic view of the capital. After the visit, return to the hotel and rest of the day at leisure. Night in Bogota

Day 8: BOGOTA - ZIPAQUIRA SALT CATHEDRAL – BOGOTÁ

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will take a tour of the Bogotá savannah until we reach the city of Zipaquirá. Located a few kilometers from the capital, it is one of the most important salt exploitation centers in Colombia, whose name means “city of our Father” in the Chibcha language, although it is also known as “City of Salt”. Already in pre-Columbian times, in this region the saline springs were exploited to produce salt bread, a strong currency with which the Muiscas traded. Over time, technology changed and tunnels began to be dug to extract greater amounts of salt. In these ancient underground galleries stands the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, which received recognition as the “First Wonder of Colombia”; in addition to the urban area of ​​the city, which was declared a historical and cultural heritage of Colombia. The unique cathedral is located 180 m below the surface, and finding a Catholic church built in the heart of a salt mine is still surprising for all who visit it, and in which there are sculptures carved in salt, among which stands out a 16 m high cross that is located behind the main altar. There is also a small miners’ chapel in homage to the Virgin Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Guasá (mine in the Chibcha language). At the end of the visit we return to our hotel in Bogotá. Rest of the day free.

Day 9: BOGOTA - CARTAGENA DE INDIAS - AT LEISURE

Breakfast at the hotel. At the agreed time, transfer to the airport to take a flight to Cartagena de Indias, on the Colombian Caribbean coast. Reception and transfer to the hotel.

Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy this amazing city at your own pace. Cartagena founded in 1533 on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, since its foundation and throughout the Spanish colonial era this was one of the most important ports in America, being at the same time the object of pirate raids, which made it in its time, the city reinforced in South America, currently maintaining its colonial architecture in its historic center.

Day 10: CARTAGENA DE INDIAS – CITY TOUR

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to enjoy a panoramic tour of Cartagena de Indias. During the circuit we will pass through the modern area of ​​Bocagrande and the Manga neighborhood, where the oldest houses from the early 20th century are located. The route will continue until reaching Cerro de la Popa, a high point from where you can see a beautiful panoramic view of the walled city, whose historic center was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. As we descend from the hill we will visit the fortress of the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, located on the Cerro de San Lázaro. Built in 1536 with which the Spanish sought to defend themselves from English attacks in the seventeenth century. We will finish the tour with a walk through the narrow streets of the walled city, contemplating the most outstanding buildings of colonial architecture. After the visit, return to the hotel. Accommodation.

Day 11: CARTAGENA - ROSARIO AND SAN BERNARDO NATURAL PARK

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning we will leave for the port of Cartagena, to embark and sail through the Caribbean Sea until we reach the Corales del Rosario and San Bernardo Natural Park. Located about 45 kilometers southwest of the bay of Cartagena, it was created to protect unique ecosystems such as the coral reef, sea grasses, mangroves, sandy beaches, mangroves and rocky coasts, constituting a rich underwater set of ecosystems and communities, inhabited mainly by corals that house colorful fish of different shapes, crustaceans, mollusks, anemones, urchins and starfish, being the habitat of a varied range of seabirds. A day in which we will be able to enjoy a pleasant boat ride and in which we will have the opportunity to swim, snorkel to observe the seabed, sunbathe and enjoy a typical lunch. After the tour, return to the hotel in Cartagena. Accommodation.

Day 12: CARTAGENA - OUT..

Breakfast at your hotel. At appropriate time transfer to the airport back to home or continue to ……..etc.

The CHD rate applies for children from 2 to 10 years traveling accompanied by two adults and sharing a bed with them. Maximum 1 child is allowed with CHD rate per room. If you require additional bed you must pay an extra cost.
