Breakfast at the hotel.
The tour begins with the transfer to the Titicaca Lake pier to board a boat in which we will sail to the island of Taquile, located on Lake TITICACA, the highest navigable lake in the world.
This journey by the lake lasts approximately 02.30 hrs. The Titicaca is known by the Andean people as the MAMACOCHA (Mother Lake). Arriving in Taquile, a place of spectacular beauty, we will find highland descendants who maintain ancestral customs, and where we can share some experiences with, while we travelling through part of their territory. We will make direct contact with them to appreciate their customs, observe and optionally buy their handmade products. It should be noted that Taquile was declared as “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity” by UNESCO in 2005. We will have time to enjoy the landscape.
After lunch we will start the return to the city of Puno, on the way we will visit the Floating Islands of the Uros. The Islands are manufactured by its inhabitants who weave artificial floors with the totora (Reeds that grow in place) place them superimposed and skillfully interweave them to float on Lake Titicaca. The islands are of various sizes, with small and / or numerous families living in them. These families live from fishing, gathering and selling handicrafts to visitors. During this tour you will see and listen about the legends of the Uros, their uses, customs, and folklore. We will enjoy this full day tour sailing up Titicaca Lake, the highest navigable lake in the world
