Located in the north side of the “Cordillera blanca” (white mountain range) the Snowy of Huantsan is the main point of attraction forTrekking. It has a certain difficulty to go through it. Also , when you get to Yanashaallash,you will feel that this is the highest altitude of the journey ( 4700 meters below sea level). This brief itinerary for three days walking, will be a good trainning for the walkers and get used to the weather and altitud in case you want to face circuits of more duration, altitude and difficulty.

TOUR DETAILS:

1st Day HUARAZ / OLLEROS – TZARACANCHA

Very early in the morning departure from Huaraz to the town of Olleros (3500), The Trekking begins in Olleros taking the quebrada Rurec, place where the muleteer and the mules or camelids will be waiting to transfer the camping equipment.  After 16 kilometers walking, in the afternooon We will camp a old  farm  with a beautiful view to the snowy of Shacsha s(5703), Cashan (5716), Rurec (5696 and Uruashraju (5722).

2nd Day OLLEROS / RUREC / YANASHALLASH SHONGOPAMPA

After breakfast, at 08.00 am departure from the camp to enter the pre-Inca trail, in which you ascend about 4 hours to reach the Yanashallash pass which is at a height of (4700msnm), with an extraordinary view of the south side of the “White Mountain” and The Huantsán mountain (6395)  some gaps in your environment.

After a reasonable time, the zigzag descent begins until reaching the Shongopampa camp (2), where they will spend the night at a height of (3850 masl)

3rd Day Shongopampa YANASHALLASH / CHAVIN / HUARAZ

After breakfast, early departure towards Chavín de Huantar, this section will be pure descent, passing through various towns until reaching Chavín around noon. Visit to the archaeological center of Chavín de Huantar, a sacred place of pilgrimage and pre-Inca ceremonial center dating back to 1200 years BC. Made up of buildings criss-crossed in a complex of internal galleries, with tombstones, sculptures in low and high relief in which the designs of felines, birds, snakes, etc. predominate. The fabulous nail heads (sculptures embedded in the wall), the sandeel and the use of elements in number of 7 that are repeated in the castle stand out especially.

Lunch Return to Huaraz. Where you arrive at approximately 6.30 pm.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED:

  • Medium backpack, sleeping bag, rain clothes (raincoats, rain poncho)
  • Towel and swinwear
  • Flashlight, spare batteries and water bottle
  • Medicines for personal use
  • Shoes with rubber sole
  • A complete change of clothes. It is important to have dry t-shirts, a thick coat to keep warm at night and several pairs of socks because the feet should be dry at night. Hat for the sun, scarf and gloves.

Passengers are responsible for having a valid passport (valid at least 6months before travel) and any visas required.

Peru may require visa for some nationalities. Please note that some countries require a reciprocity entrance fee.
