Breakfast at your hotel. Early, we will begin our visit to the Sican National Museum, a modern infrastructure that holds the result of 23 years of research led by the archaeologist Izumi Shimada. There, visitors can go back in time and appreciate details of the daily life of the inhabitants of Sican or Lambayeque culture, their precious metals, the process of making ceramics, as well as being able to observe the recreation of the tombs found with objects from gold. The term Sicán means Temple of the Moon, and this culture is considered as the descendants of the great God Naylamp, who arrived by sea, in the middle of a large fleet of rafts and accompanied by a luxurious court of officials, versed in different arts and crafts. Privileged heir to the great Mochica culture received a series of cultural influences, including that of the Chimu culture, which is also heir to the Mochica culture. There comes a time when both cultures develop in parallel until the Chimu absorbs the Sican culture and later both were absorbed by the Incas. Touristic lunch.
In the afternoon we will visit the Túcume Complex, capital of the Lambayeque kingdom, located 33 km northeast from the city of Chiclayo, and which is also known as the Valley of the Pyramids because it has 26 of these constructions, located throughout Leche River Valley.
Túcume is a mystical place, where the monumental of its architectural manifestations is confused with the customs of its people. Due to their size and the quality of their constructions, Túcume pyramids constitute one of the main monumental centres of the Region.
The mystery this fascinating place holds is because of the legend of the Mochicas, who said that the great King Naylamp accompanied by his wife Ceterni, came from the sea with great knowledge and tools to contribute to the art and instruments that were used to build the legacies that we know today.
Likewise, there is the belief that each step of the access stairs of the Túcume pyramids could represent the periods of development of human life, so that the arrival at the top of the building was symbolic, since it represented the acquisition of a supreme spirit.
The remains found show that it was a maritime culture which was essential and that commercial exchanges were carried out with other cultures on the continent. Likewise, it is also believed that this was one of the cultures that could have dominated the knowledge of marine currents and who achieved exchanges with Polynesia. Return to the hotel. (B. L.)
