TOUR DETAILS:

Day 1: PUERTO MALDONADO – JUNGLE LODGE

On arrival we will transfer you to our boat to travel up the Tambopata River to the lodge. We will watch the vegetation changes, from colonized and deforested areas until we reach the jungle. Arriving at the Lodge, we have a welcome drink and we will find the rest of the staff who will accompany us during the trip.
In the afternoon, we will have an introductory walk on land, in a forest dominated by chestnut trees and giant Dipteryx. Mammals that are more often spotted in this trail are Saddle-back Tamarinds, Capuchin monkeys, agoutis, Pacas, Blue Morpho Butterflies, Trogons, toucans and many other species of birds.
After dinner, we will take a night walk where we can find nocturnal animals and insects, which can be located by the brightness of their eyes when they are lit by a flashlight. Approximately 50% of the animals in the wild are nocturnal. Night at Lodge.   (L. D.)

Day 2: LAGO CONDENADO - EL CHUNCHO CLAY LICK – Camping

After breakfast, we will begin our journey, arriving by boat to the trail where we will start an exploratory hike. Then, we will row in Lakes Condemned 1 and 2 in our boats. The surroundings of both lakes have an impressive variety of birds and aquatic life. Often, you can see a family of giant otters living in the lake. Likewise, we can see Tiger Herons, White Herons, Tuqui Tuqui, Shanshos, the noisy bird Donacobius with its black head and many others. Remember to bring your hat and sunscreen for sun protection in the lakes because there is no shadow. After our excursion, return to the Lodge just in time for lunch.

At the indicated time, return the boat to continue the journey. After a two-hour sail up the river, we arrive at the area’s most anticipated program, which houses the “Macaw Clay Lick” or Collpa called “The Chuncho.” This collpa is considered the second most important within the Tambopata National Reserve. At night, we can explore the beach that forms there and try to see the families of capybaras (the world’s largest rodent) as well as the largest and elusive mammal, called Tapir or “Sachavaca”, and the not less famous Jaguar.
Night camping near the collpa.   (B.L.D.)

Day 3: EL CHUNCHO CLAY LICK (COLLPA) - LODGE

To meet the objective of this place, it is necessary to get up at dawn and reach the Collpa before the macaw. They come in search of mineral salts and the digestive properties of the clay. Many macaws and parrots visit the collpa daily, including macaws Ara chloroptera (Green-Winged Macaw) and Ara Macaw (Scarlet Macaw), among others. We will return to the camp and prepare to return to the Lodge, downstream, where we will arrive in time for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy our trail system with their respective attractions.
At dusk, we will look for alligators and other nocturnal animals by canoe along the Tambopata River. Night at the Lodge.      (B.L.D.)

DIA 4 - LODGE – PUERTO MALDONADO

It is necessary to leave at dawn to take the boat back to Puerto Maldonado, where, along the way, we will have the opportunity to see memorable views of the sunrise over the river. In the mornings you can see the wildlife which is particularly active at this time, and often listen to howler monkeys or apes. Arriving in Puerto Maldonado, transfer to the airport and assistance in departure flight.    (B)
